CADA Awarded Grant from Akron Community Foundation

Last week, Akron Community Foundation’s board of directors approved grants totaling $2,829,995, including $3,500 to the Center for Applied Drama and Autism (CADA) for inclusive theatre programming during our 2022-23 season.

This season will include CADA’s brand new Inclusive Chatter Network for Patreon subscribers, live AND virtual workshops on bully prevention and disability advocacy, and the return of the Inclusive and Accessible Virtual Variety Show Spectacular! This grant will allow us to provide paid performance opportunities, classes, and workshops for community members looking to make their spaces more neurodivergent-friendly.

For 67 years, Akron Community Foundation has enhanced the work of organizations and individuals who make a permanent commitment to the good of the community. Since 2012, CADA has inspired the growth and empowerment of actors on the autism spectrum and those with disabilities through theatre-based programming. We collectively imagine a future where people of all abilities are provided the tools to navigate the stage and world effectively.
