CADA Speaking at the Arts Impact Ohio Conference

The Center for Applied Drama and Autism (CADA) staff members, Anna-Jeannine Griesacker will be speaking and Ruben Ryan will be leading a workshop at the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) Arts Impact Ohio conference! Join them in the B.F. Goodrich Room on Wednesday, October 5 from 2:15–3:30 PM for their session titled The Protagonist Project; "Catalyst."

CADA’s Protagonist Project is a holistic theatre program that casts everyday people as the heroes of their own stories through interdisciplinary applied drama work. One of the projects under its umbrella, "Catalyst," is an interactive performance which offers audience members the opportunity to direct the action of a scene and to change its outcome through revisionist creativity. Part fun, part empathy-building, this 75-minute session features actors from Theatre on the Spectrum and explores issues of bullying, accessibility, and inclusion. Suitable for teachers, arts leaders, professionals, and others working to make their school, theatre, business, or community less hostile to those with cognitive and other disabilities.

Arts Impact Ohio is OAC’s biennial statewide professional development conference. It provides relevant, action-oriented, forward-looking content for members of the state’s arts and cultural sector. The 2022 conference features two days of workshop sessions, keynotes, and plenaries; visits to nearby arts and cultural institutions; and opportunities to meet local and national thought leaders, with performances, arts experiences, networking opportunities, and plenty of other celebrations mixed in.

The Arts Impact Ohio conference:

  • stimulates in-person connections

  • highlights best practices

  • showcases transformative experiences

  • elevates a broad range of diverse viewpoints and voices

  • provides a platform to celebrate the ongoing innovation and engagement championed by arts leaders in every corner of Ohio
